Metro News: An inquest is
reportedly to be told that Peaches Geldof died from a heroin overdose in a
tragic echo of her mum Paula Yates’ death 14 years ago.
The inquest will be opened
today at 2pm by North West Kent Coroner Roger Hatch at Gravesend Old Town Hall
and is expected to last around 10 minutes.
Mum-of-two Peaches was
found dead in her Kent home on April 7. A post mortem carried out in the weeks
that followed proved inconclusive but toxicology test results are expected to
reveal today the daughter of Sir Bob Geldof overdosed on Class A drug heroin,
according to The Times.
The Geldof family have
refused to comment on reports Peaches died from a heroin overdose, with a
spokesman saying: ‘I cannot confirm anything as an inquest is taking place. The
family have no statement.’

A spokesman for Kent
Police said they can ‘neither confirm or deny’ the report.
Peaches’ body was found
lying next to her and husband Thomas Cohen’s son Phaedra, 12 months, while
Cohen was out with their other son Astala, 23 months, at the time.
Cohen, 23, is said to have
raised an alarm and asked a friend to check on Peaches when she failed to
answer her phone.
Shortly before she died
she had posted a picture of herself as a child with Yates on her Twitter
account.

No drug paraphernalia or
suicide note was found near her body when it discovered.
Geldof suffered a public
battle with drugs but had admitted becoming a mum had given her more focus.
Paula Yates was found dead
in her Notting Hill home by a family friend in 2000. Peaches’ half-sister Tiger
Lily had been playing nearby at the time.
In her final interview
before her death, Peaches had admitted never making peace with her childhood
after her mother and father divorced.
The TV presenter and
journalist told Aga Living magazine: ‘I’m not sure I’ve yet fully made peace
with my childhood but with my mum I have come to terms with everything. She had
a really difficult time.

‘There are so many
parallels between us. Now I can understand everything. I think you have to
experience hardships and pain yourself to fully understand people who have been
through it and also you can never really experience happiness unless you’ve had
that down feeling too. Sometimes it’s enjoyable to be a bit depressive, I
think.’
She also spoke of her
hopes for her two sons’ future, adding: ‘I just have a lot of hopes for them,
really, and I hope when they’re older they get to have a bit of the youth I
lost out on when I had them.’
Peaches’ funeral was held
on April 21st at St Mary Magdalene and St Lawrence in Davington, near
Faversham. It is the same church where Peaches married Tom, where her mother
and father were married in 1986 and where Yates’ funeral was held.
A full inquest is due to
be set for late July.
