I would love to see Liverpool win the title and while the race is still too close to call with any degree of certainty, I think they will.
I think they have become people’s second team. I think they are the team that the neutrals want to see win the Premier League. It would be silly to say even Manchester United fans think that, but Liverpool have won a lot of admirers because of the way they play and it has captured people’s imagination seeing one of the heavyweights of world football back in business.
It is not just because of history and heritage, it is the way they are doing it. I know so many people who are season-ticket holders at Liverpool and some of them are saying, ‘Of course we’d like to win it, but it’s just so nice to go to Anfield and see a feast of football again'.
They are excited because they are watching exciting football again and I think that is the feeling in football in general.
It is romantic. They are like an old champion boxer who was dethroned, but is now on a comeback. It is a great story and the majority of neutrals are pulling in their direction
