Seun Kuti is
not the type that beat around the bush when it comes to airing his opinion on
nation issues. Recently on Wazobia Tv the Afrobeat star unequivocally declared
that he would not vote in the coming elections because he does not believe in
the process and the creation called Nigeria.
“Right from
1960 people in government has never been pro-people. I don’t believe the governments
we have in view have the interest of the people at heart. Count me out of the
election, I will not vote” he said.
“Nigeria is
not an African creation. It’s not an African that created Nigeria. It wasn’t
out forefathers that came together to create Nigeria. It’s an European who sat
down in his house to create this country. This country was not designed to
work. Europeans understand that for a country to work, it has to share a common
language, common culture and a common identity” he added.
He urged the
youth to take their destiny in their own hands and rise to participate in
politics enmass, adding that they make up the largest demography of the
population.“ I can participate in politics only when the young people have
created their own platform. We need a young person that can connect directly
with the youths” he quipped
