President Goodluck Jonathan worshiped with
the Living Faith Church a.k.a Winners Chapel in Canaanland, Ota today, Sunday, January 25, 2015.
He was welcomed by Bishop David Oyedepo to the church and called on the 120,000
congregation to welcome Mr. President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to the
church. Then, Mr. President spoke.
“The
country is passing through challenges and it would have been worse if it hadn’t
been for your prayers,” Jonathan said. “I know with your prayers and the
commitment of government, we will overcome our challenges.”
“Education
is the key. I come from a humble background, and I know that if I did not go to
school, I would not be where I am today,” the President said.
“For you to
liberate your people, you have to create platforms for them to be educated. The
church is doing well in that direction. I thank you. I ask that you continue to
pray for the nation.

“A number of
people are predicting quite a number of things. But, I know that God Almighty
is in control of our lives.
“The elections of
next month will be peaceful and the nation will move in the direction that we
want,” he said.”I don’t want to talk too much before the say I came here to
campaign,” the President said, eliciting laughter. “I want to thank you for
everything you have been doing.”
After the
President’s speech, before the Bishop gave his message, he led a session of
prayers for Dr. Jonathan. Referencing 1 Timothy 2:1-2 and Numbers 6:23 –
25,Oyedepo said it was our responsibility to pray for Christians to pray for
their king and he would then bless the President in line with God’s
instructions to Moses to Aaron the priest.
