The Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers state has said the state government should be
held responsible for the Ebola virus case, which has claimed the life of its
first victim in Port Hacourt, Dr. Ike Samuel Elemo.
According to
the state chairman of the party, Chief Felix Obuah, Governor Amaechi and the
state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Samson Parker’s negligence led to the death
of the doctor.
Speaking
through his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Jerry Needam, the state PDP Chairman
said that the Amaechi-led government did not take proactive measures to prevent
the virus from spreading to the state.
He also said
that due to the strained relationship between the Governor Amaechi and the
presidency, the Ebola virus case in the state might be worse than that of Lagos
