I
was watching a video recorded by Mr Adeyinka Grandson where he
analysed the reason why Mr Desmond Elliot should not be regarded as a
credible representative due to his alleged double standard. According
to Mr Yinka, most people never knew Desmond to have come from a
Yoruba parentage until now that he just added olusola to his
name..(well, I did'nt know too).
What
I know is Desmond has an Igbo mum and a Calabar (or Akwa Ibom)
wife..He is more with the Igbos than yoruba but I wont say he is not
entitle to contest. The question I have is where the hell did he keep
'Olusola' before now..
Read Yinka's Piece:
The Lagos State House of Assembly election for Surulere Constituency I, sounds like a good idea for Yoruba Youths to be able to respond to changing circumstances. Why? Take an example from the multiplier effect.
Desmond
Elliott, after more than four decades of being Ibo man by
consciousness and Yoruba by default, wants to represent the Yoruba
people of Surulere Constituency I as Member, Lagos State House of
Assembly.
He
lives in Lekki, Victoria Island and aiming to contest in Surulere,
which is against the Nigeria electoral law. He has an Ibo mother and
married to Victoria Elliott, a non-Yoruba lady.
The
trouble is, Desmond Elliott pretended to be Ibo for over four decades
and for someone capable of lying about his true origin for many years
has integrity issues and should not be trusted with something as big
as a state representative. If he should mistakenly be elected to
represent Surulere Constituency I, there is likely to be a doomed
multiplier effect on the Yoruba households.
Every
member of the Lagos State House of Assembly receives N10 million as
salaries and allowances as well as N20 million constituency project
allocation quarterly. In a year, the total income received by each
ordinary member of the Lagos State House of Assembly comes to N120
million.
If
Desmond Elliott is mistakenly elected to represent Surulere
Constituency I, he will receive N40 million as salaries and
allowances every year and for four years. He will also be entitled to
another N80 million as constituency project allocation for a year and
consecutively for four years.
An
injection of extra N40 million income for Desmond Elliott every year
as salaries will lead to more spending for his Ibo household, which
will produce increased income for his mother who is Ibo and
non-Yoruba in-law. The extra N40 million will afford him the power to
purchase properties in choice places like Banana Island and Dubai. He
will be able to afford the best school for his Ibo children and
holiday anywhere in the world for his entire Ibo household.
Being
an Ibo man by consciousness and Yoruba by default, his inner circle
of friends would be mostly Ibo. The N80 million per year constituency
project allocation would be used by most of his Ibo friends in
contract allocations to themselves. The earnings made by his Ibo
friends will also have multiplier effects on their various Ibo
households's marginal propensity to spend. They also will be able to
acquire properties in Banana Island or Dubai and be able to afford
good schools for their Ibo children and holiday abroad.
Voting
Desmond Elliott therefore will have 80% direct multiplier effect on
Ibo households in Yorubaland and elsewhere, and 20% indirect effect
on the Yoruba households within Surulere Constituency I.
However,
a vote for the Yoruba PDP candidate, whose wife is also Yoruba, as
well as his parents and in-law and the majority of his inner circle
of friends being Yoruba will have 80% direct multiplier effect on the
Yoruba households and the remaining 20% indirect effect on other
Yoruba households within the Surulere Constituency I.
It
will be the 'real' Yoruba PDP candidate who will have the wealth (N40
million per year) to acquire properties at Banana Island, send his
Yoruba children to good schools, provide for his Yoruba wife, parents
as well as his in-law and be able to travel for holidays abroad.
Likewise, his Yoruba inner circle of friends will be responsible for
the N80 million constituency project contracts and whatever profits
they come to make will further go to increase the welfare of more
Yoruba households.
If you
use your vote wisely and vote the Yoruba PDP candidate instead of Ibo
Desmond Elliott, you will help in no small measures to improve the
living standards of several Yoruba households. The Ibos understand
ethnic politics and the concept of multiplier effect, and that is the
reason they will only vote for Desmond Elliott.
Let's
forget about party politics. If we vote Desmond Elliott based on
emotions, he will earn N40 million incomes more per year, be able to
afford the best things in life, help his Ibo friends and family get
by, all at the expense of other Yoruba citizens.
But if
we vote a proper Yoruba citizen from the PDP as Member of the Lagos
State House of Assembly, Surulere Constituency I, he will earn N40
million more income per year, N160 million in four years and be able
to improve his living standard, and help his family and friends and
his constituency.
The
English and White Americans do the same in their respective
countries. Let us also #ThinkYorubaFirst
