Izabel Laxamana was a beautiful 13-year-old girl with long
flowing hair. As a punishment for an offense her father decided to publiclyshame her. He recored a video of his daughter next to a pile of her hair and
posted it on the internet. Soon after
being publicly shamed Izabel Laxamana jumped off of a highway overpass on
Friday, May 29. She lost her life from the fall.
A large clump of hair is seen laying on the ground and then the
camera pans to Izabel.
Her dad says, “The consequences of getting messed up, man,
you lost all that beautiful hair. Was it worth it?”
“No,” she replies
“How many times did I warn you?” He asks.
“A lot,” Izabel is barely heard answering.
While it’s uncertain if the video influenced Laxamana’s
decision, many are now openly calling for an end to this public shaming trend.
A Facebook page entitled Justice For Izabelis filled with people going as far
as demanding that the father be criminally charged for his actions.
