DISASTER: It’s so hot in India that the road is melting

More than 1,150 people have reportedly died in the heat wave sweeping across the southern part of the country. Report says.
Andhra Pradesh suffered the most: 884 people have died as a result of the searing heat since 18 May.

But it’s not much cooler in the north of the country. In New Delhi, the temperature is more than 45C – so high that the asphalt road has started to melt.

Local meteorologists said the heat was a result of north-westerly dry and hot winds from Rajasthan state, which shares a border with Pakistan.
