PDP-APC: The Pot And Kettle Politics

I wish to state categorically here that this piece is in no way meant to defend or support any political camp but there seem to be need to put some political excesses to order as the battle between the PDP and APC is becoming too tense for political tranquillity.

Be it as it may I would like to state at this junction that there is the need for the APC to lay down its offensive political weapon and focus on creating an ideological niche for itself.

Having studied the trend as it unravels, it seem that the popupalr opposition party has lost focus as to what it (should)stands for (if it has ever been stated anywhere).

President Goodluck Jonathan has in the past years, had no commendable administrative governance that is worthy of consideration for an extension of term, with premises which shall be briefly identified below.

  1. Over 65 million Nigerian youths (and still counting) are still jobless regardless the lotto-influenced YouWin program and the shabby SURE-P alternative.
  2. The Power Sector is moving on a galloping pace as one cannot say there is improvement or relapse.
  3. Most public office abusers and misappropriators who should be in jail today are still walking the street, giving motivational speeches(?), getting special appointments and even bagging National Awards.
  4. I do not have to mention security as it is evident that Nigeria is literarily divided along religious and political path following the rise of insurrectionist in the north and crude oil-thirsty militants in the south.
  5. The acclaimed growing economy as professed by Madam-Professor-I-Can-Fix-It-All Okonjo-Iweala does not reflect in the lives of the common Nigerians who constitute 80 per cent of the same.
  6. In the face of every recorded mass murder in the north, the Presidency holds no barred as he still dances on campaign ground as though the victims were only collateral damages.
  7. GEJ places Africa's most wanted drug baron in the United States to head his campaign crusade

These monumental flaws and deliberate negligence as stated above amongst others necessitated the creation of a progressive youth movement called “Nigerian Youth Against Jonathan's Kakistocracy” on Facebook.

However I shall not hesitate to state categorically here that the change that we all hope, dream and clamour for, does not lie at the mercy of the opposition All progressive Congress,APC.

One of the weakness of Nigerians as identified by Chinua Achebe (1983) was the fact that we easily get sedated and indoctrinated. Our leaders (political and religious) take advantage of our emotional recipient to pity and win us over to nowhere, as we are so gullible to believe anything that is laced with an emblem of change.

My premises are open to debate as I shall carefully identified them below:

The man called Tambuwal

Femi Aribisala has carefully describe this wolf in sheep's skin to all Nigerians to be wary about, when he wrote an exclusive piece on his historical account of betrayal and consistent defection.

Honorable Tambuwal holds the world record of a man who has defected to four political party on five occassions. As clearly stated by Aribisala;

Tambuwal is a serial defector of dishonourable repute. He defected from the ANPP to the DPP, then to back to the ANPP, then to the PDP and now to the APC”

The man who defected to the opposition party without resigning from office and became confused as to what capacity he intends to “serve his people”, is a mould of clay in the hand of a potter who goes by the name Asiwaju. He was the one who sold the entirety of Yoruba interest to the north when he infiltrated the national assembly and denying the southwest of a slot of the speaker. Will such a man have our interest at heart?

The SOE Extension

This should have served as a pointer to Nigerians that the APC-led movement for change is a scam, a manipulative mechanism to gain power for vested interest whose regime might be likened to the biblical-replica of Babylon in the reign of Nebuchadnezzar.

  1. Why in the world would the house move against the extenstion of state of emergency in the states that document daily record of capture and recovery between Boko Haram and the Nigerian Army?
  2. How many of those lawmakers who comes from Adamawa, Borno or Yobe can go back to their constituency with their family to stay at the moment?
  3. Why would the house which has gone on break till December 3, 2014 suddenly “love” Nigerians so much to start jumping fences to convene over matters arising?

The APC Manifesto

I think it is high time we asked the APC to stop condemning the ruling party and come up with what it stands for. I am sure the APC has a standing ideology, the are just too busy finding the belt below to hit at any slight guard-down.

What do you stand for? What should Nigerians expect from your government? Any developmental plans at all? Cant you produce any younger or better candidate who has no second-fiddle leadership record where the deputy will hold more sway than the leader himself?

All we could gather from your conventions are vengeful utterances: Flush out the PDP -Asiwaju, Punish PDP with your vote-Amaechi, PDP is totalitarian-Lai, INEC is biased- Asiwaju, etc.. think less of means to assasinate characters and focus on your whatever-point plans, if you have any.

I am begginning to wonder if out of over 167 million Nigerians, we could not produce few good and reliable men to represent popuplar interest aside from these aspirants who possess questionable political and administrative history.

Fidel Allejandro Castro Ruz was merely a 25-year-old graduate of law when he attempted to attack the Moncada Barrack, Che Guevera was 29 when he helped Cuba in the liberation struggle in 1959, Nicholo Machavelli was in his youthful age when he wrote the prince, the likes of Ironsi, Gowon, Murhtala ruled Nigeria in their early thirties.
Lets not be carried away in our quest for a change and replace the kettle with a pot, lets not continue in the regular theme of lamenting a better yesterday.

If there are only two sides to a coin, the we should learn to look at it from angles. This way we will have a luxury of choices to play with.
