The giants
in the Yoruba film industry gathered last Sunday at the Ibadan Civic Centre in
Agodi for the third edition of the annual Yoruba Movies Academy Awards (YMAA)
which featured several nominee including the the best actor, best actress, best
directors and so on.
The
environment was cosy for the veteran actor cum director as other participants
were called to be honored in their respective roles and perfomance.
He was
nominated for the movie ‘Alami Ayemi’, alongside Abiodun Olanrewaju, Niji
Akanni and Kunle Afod but lost to to Akanni who directed the movie ‘Aramotu’.
It was
however reported that Saidi Balogun did not win the best director award has he
had expected and this infuriated him into storming out of the event. All effort
to call himby friends and fans were abortive as he felt diappointed in the
organizers for what he perceived to be a conspiracy
Actor
Odunlade Adekola beat Actors Muyiwa Ademola, Femi Adebayo and Yomi Fash Lanso,
carting away the best Actor award while Fathia Balogun won the best Actress
award as against star Actresses Funke Akindele, Iyabo Ojo and Ayo Adesanya and
others
