Winners Chapel, COZA Defy CAN's Order, Hold Massive Church Service Amid Coronavirus Pandemic




Churches in the country were directed by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to conduct services online or use house cell based service.

This was contained in a statement released on behalf of CAN President, Samson Ayokunle by his Media Assistant, Adebayo Oladeji.



Churches were also urged to follow the guidelines for combating coronavirus in their services and also to observe March 22 and March 29 as days of prayers against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in Nigeria and globally.
Despite the instruction, there were major churches with thousands of memebers who defied the order and carried out a full fledged Sunday church service at their respective venues.
The Living Faith Church, a.k.a Winners Chapel which has a capacity of 50,000 people held service at its Ota church while Common Wealth Zion Assembly in Abuja also had his church service amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, however did not tow the path of endagering their members as congregations were instruction to hold services in cells and within the stated number of gathering per service.
The Lagos State government also warned against social or religious gathering to curb the seemingly expansive potential of the pandemic in the state.
ZImbabwe government ordered that church members be flogged out of the building for flouting the federal order to control the spread of the deadly virus.

Recall that the Christian Association of Nigeria called on all churches in the country to set aside March 22 and 29 apart to pray for an end to Coronavirus Pandemic in Nigeria and all over the world.
“Our prayer points should be that God should stop the spread of coronavirus in Nigeria and all over the world. God should also protect Nigerians from this disease.
Churches without an online system were directed to create services of not more than 50 members in each shift.

This is coming after Kaduna CAN Chapter of CAN directed its members to suspend church activities to curb the spread of coronavirus in the state
