No fewer than 70 people have died in Accra, the Ghanaian
capital following an explosion at a petrol station where many sought shelter,
due to prevailing rain. The fire brigade spokesman, Prince Billy Anaglate, stated
that about a dozen people were taken to the hospital after the blast. See more
Al Jazeera correspondent, Boateng also said that, “This is a
very busy area of Accra. Lots of people, lots of car traffic, and because of
the heavy rains people gathered at this gas station to seek shelter and this
explosion happened,” he said, stating reasons why many where trapped in the
fire.
