This comes on the back of leading the Blues to winning the
Premier League for the first time in five years and bringing balance back to
the Bridge.
A new contract will show Mourinho’s intent to build a
dynasty at Stamford Bridge, just as the one he built in 2005 ends, merging the
two has been a challenge but Mourinho has delivered where others failed.
He has steadied the ship at Chelsea, bringing a more
expansive game into the teams repertoire, whilst keeping the steel and
consistency he is renowned for. This and the ability to adapt tactics to the
situation have brought the good times and Premier League back to Stamford
Bridge.
Unlike his first spell at the club he has not had an open
cheque-book at his disposal, but has still managed to create winning football
whilst helping the club balance the budget.
This has led to difficult decisions and the sale of some
iconic players such as David Luiz and Juan Mata and selling players that were
highly valued but not getting in the team such as Andre Schurrle and Kevin De
Bruyne. Despite some reservations the
club has moved on each time without skipping a beat, looking stronger in all
positions since his return.
Mourinho returned promising to be ‘The Happy One’ however
whilst this may be the case behind the scenes, with the media he has maintained
his charismatic yet fiery demeanour.
There has been plenty to talk about and he has never been
far from controversy. However you feel that he knows the club have his back,
giving him the confidence to manage the team and the media in the optimum way
to match his agenda.
As the season came to a close Mourinho went back to his
relaxed self, knowing that he had delivered what the board and fans were
expecting. The prodigal son has returned and brought the smiles back to
Stamford Bridge.
Gone are the dark days of the unpopular Spanish man who now
manages Real Madrid, good times are back at Stamford Bridge and that has to
worry their rivals.
When Mourinho is happy he stays at Chelsea, and if Mourinho
stays at Chelsea, then Chelsea will keep winning
