Mediocrity
kills faster than Ebola. After several warning and media advocacy against the
use of salt and water as a preventive measure against Ebola Virus, some people
are still bent on the misconceived information and are losing their lives
faster than Ebola would take it.
In the guise
to prevent being infected with the deadly Ebola virus, two people in Makurdi,
Benue who believed salt could help prevent contracting the virus have been
confirmed dead.
Recall that
less than a week ago, two people died while twenty were hospitalized after
excessive consumption of salt in Jos. Continue
Dr Joseph
Kumba, Director, Public Health in the Ministry of Health and Human Services
confirmed the report:
“We got the
report at a meeting today (Wednesday 13th August) that two persons died at
Ushakaa clinic as a result of drinking and bathing with hot salted water.” he
said.
The Medical
Director of Ushakaa Hospital Dr Innocent Gbillah said it was a male and a
female.
Gbillah did
not disclose the names of the deceased but said they were admitted into the
hospital on Saturday.
“We did
everything possible to help the victims but to no avail. One of them died on
Tuesday at 7 pm while the other gave up the ghost at 5 am Wednesday
(yesterday).” he said.
