According
to eyewitnesses, the kids were trampled upon in a stampede caused by
armed security men including men of the Joint Task Force code named
Operation Pulo Shield.
The
stampede, occurred at about 6.30pm Thursday at the jam-packed stadium
in the aftermath of shooting of tear gas to wage the surging crowd of
women and youths waiting to collect the commodities slated for
distribution.
The
programme was organized by the office of the Senior Special Assistant
to the President on MDGs in collaboration with the Bayelsa State
Government through the MDGs conditional grant scheme and office of
the First Lady.
